What’s the story behind the Soldering Station Wall-outlet you ask? I wanted to be able to solder at the kitchen table. But my girlfriend didn’t think that was a good idea. “That ugly blue thing won’t get on the table!” So I had to come up with something for that.
I placed the “ugly blue thing” (the base of the soldering station) in a wall cupboard next to the kitchen. I 3D printed my own “solder connection front” that fits exactly in the standard wall outlet frames. A camera, self-written PHP script and some other electronics ensure that the temperature is neatly displayed on a mini OLED display in the kitchen. This way there is no longer a soldering station in the kitchen, but I can still solder at the kitchen table without any problems if I want to.
